THE IMPORTANCE

There are many benefits to training martial arts, not the least of which are physical, mental, and spiritual in nature. From physical improvements, to the enhancement of both your mental and spiritual well-being, martial arts paves the way for people to reach their peak potential.

By instilling discipline in the ring, students learn to pay attention to the instructor and refrain from misbehaving. These good behaviors typically transfer to the school setting, where students often begin obtaining  better grades of good attention span result.

The act of self-defense, not only protects our students, but also sharpens their instincts, which they are taught to pay attention to, and trust. What better way to teach our students self-defense, other than in the form of martial arts? All of our centres teach at least one form of martial arts, whether it is Taekwondo, Karate or Silambam. Martial arts professionals from different parts of the country have graciously come forward to volunteer their time in teaching our students how to defend themselves.

To date, our students have not only never fail to attend self defense classes, but most of them are also excelling on different levels, across the different forms of martial arts. When asked of the purpose of their interest, they pointed out that learning self-defense helped them be more focused in their daily tasks, and also that it was fun to do something besides study!

At TARA, we look forward to exposing our students to the many other forms of self defense, in hopes that when they have finally escaped the vicious cycle of poverty, they would be able to pass it on to those in need.
