Project Mother

It’s time to serve the nation.

On 16 March 2020, when Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin officially promulgated the movement control order under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and the Police Act 1967, the country came to a stand-still.

Many were affected; especially the ones in B40 clusters, daily wage earners and their families were left hungry with no food on their table. A quick-thinking by a group of caring human beings from various NGOs, Temples and like-minded individuals, PROJECT MOTHER was initiated. It was a Joint Project and their mission was to feed the hungry, especially the B40 groups, the elderly, the sick, the homeless and the disabled.

Planning, Logistics and Funding were challenging as the volunteers were not able to move or travel freely to undertake the project. However, With the most versatile tool in hand, Whatsapp groups were formed, well-wishers and volunteers joined in and soon after it turned out to be a well-structured project that all other NGOs out there started similar projects. Project Mother was the model project during the pandemic crisis.
